If that were true, then it would be possible to drink and breath at the
same time, which is very possible for animals, and for infants, but not
for humans above the age of something like 18 months. The glottis is
BELOW the nasal-oral transition or whatever you call it.
If what you say is true, just try to breathe thru your nose with a
closed glottis - you'll find it quite impossible.
