It seems I haven't been paying attention... *makes silly noises*.
OK, so that's what ATR feels like. There might be room for an [e_A] in
the vowel space, then, contrasting with all of [e], [E] and [{]. On
the other hand, the sound of [e_A] seems (to me) to share some of the
qualities of centralized vowels, so if a language has those as well,
it might be hard to keep [e_A] and [@] apart, for instance.
