Not unexpectedly, Ray hit every salient point: -i- connector; virga vs.
virgula; gender. I'd lean toward "virgifossus" instead of "virgulifossus",
unless it needs to be emphasized that it's a _little_ stick or twig. In
order to get the right gender, we'd need to know the actual genus name:
virgifossus = masculine, virgifossa = feminine, virgifossum = neuter. What
is this poor stick-poked life form, anyway?
