Well, despite that you're *entirely* correct, still,
if I can't read it, it's not English to me ...
until about 1500 it's just Anglo-Saxon-Normanish.
It's like comparing the 1999 New York Yankees with
the 1949 team -- not much recognizable but the insignia.
