Some things to notice: ALEF: variable hight of the straight element BET: two styles, one with an upwards lower spike, one with a leftwards one. GIMEL: sometimes extends below the baseline DALED: sometimes, the end curves forwards so much it looks like a miniature tzadi ZAYIN: sometimes extends below the baseline HHET: looks like Latin |n| TET: should not look like hhet, usually left end is tall NUN: sometimes non-final nun extends below the baseline PEI: notice the two main styles of final pei TZADI: usually tall QUF: can sometimes look exactly like final kaf -Stephen (Steg) "You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed.
