Or finger snaps, hand claps, armpit noises, fingernail clicks, taps and drumming
sounds of various kinds. (In grammar school a friend and I used to communicate
in class in Morse code using a tap of the pencil point for dot, and a tap of
the eraser end of the pencil for dash. Holding the pencil horizontal to the
desk surface it could be rocked from end to end to tap with either end.)
