OK, maybe it's intransitive.  I just tend to think of transitivity as
a semantic property rather than a syntactic one.  My point is, that
particular affix doesn't change the meaning of the verb; it just
removes the default direct object specification.  There are other
affixes which *change* that specification to a different person.
