Most often I simply modify the words to fit the phonology. But I've already toyed with the idea of using a special marker, especially when the target language has declinations, so the marker can be used to support the declination modifications. It appears to a limited extent in Azak, where all roots must end with a consonnant, so that I always add a j /j/ to foreign words that end in a vowel to make them Azak roots (example: Marie /mar'i/: Mary -> Marij /mar'ij/). -- Christophe Grandsire Philips Research Laboratories -- Building WB 145 Prof. Holstlaan 4 5656 AA Eindhoven The Netherlands Phone: +31-40-27-45006 E-mail: grandsir@natlab.research.philips.com
