For what it's worth, I say /'mIntSIn/ for "mention" and /'mIn 'S@n/ for
"men shun".
I do use /S@n/ for most -tion/-sion words. I think I have /I/ in
"mention" because of influence from the /I/ in the first syllable, I do
the same for words like "pension".
Do you really use /S/ and not /tS/?
