I have heard it used without "with" (and used it myself) as in "we will
take supper later tonight."
I prefer the simple verbs for the meals: breakfast, lunch, dine, sup.
Not that I use them ordinarily. That's a little stilted even for me.
The AHD doesn't give "brunch" as a verb. I think it's time we started
using it in that way!
