Are you kidding!? "I gave her a kiss"; "I gave John the book yesterday"; "I told the man he'd have to leave". Etc. Naturally, it is possible to rearrange those to express the datives with prepositions: "Yesterday I gave the book to John", etc. I'm not sure what's wrong with "give it me".
