/k@rk/ would've been my second guess.

Yeah, that's a good one. I do find, though, that the presence of even
one vowel makes a word much more pronouncible.
Szczecin has always been difficult for me, but my Polish friend says
it's very easy. From what I can tell, he says something like /StSEtsIn/,
but it's been a while since I've heard him say it.
