I would find difficoult to read <x> as a vouel... I've tried to use <y> as
schwa but I tend to pronounce /I/ instead, I guess it is a good alternative.
The ASCII IPA symbol @ is too big in most fonts, and after most times I
would use schwa for unaccented positions I just don't like it. Other
alternatives: use <y> for /i/ and <i> for schwa, or something like e^ for
/e/ and e for schwa...?
