Fairly accurately. There's the form -yahu/-yau used in proper names which (so I've read) is a regular "short form" (I think there was some technical term) of yahweh, plus there were documents written by non-Jews in ancient times about the Jews (including a reference to their God's name) in languages which mark vowels using those vowels. -- "It has occured to me more than once that holy boredom is good and sufficient reason for the invention of free will." - "Lord Leto II" (Dune Chronicles, by Frank Herbert) http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/X-Files/ ICQ #: 18656696 AOL screen-name: NikTailor
