I can use loonies in at least some dollar accepting machines here
in Maryland. They won't take Canadian quarters, though. We even
get the occasional Canadian penny in change. This phenomenon is
rather more common along the border. In Masena (when I'm in Masena,
anyway) I regulary get Canadian quarters and dimes as well as as
pennies and nickels. I'm told this is common in Uppermichigania
and other border areas as well.
It's only a hassle because the two dollars are so far apart in
value.
