It's weird. Only replies by certain people to messages from certain
other people seem to trigger the ?-substitution, but I haven't yet
seen enough data to ascertain exactly who causes who to have the
problem.
We're all using text-only (non-HTML) mail clients, to do CONLANG-L
stuff, right? Or wrong? I'm also assuming we're all using MIME.
Quick experiment. Can Christophe send something with a variety of
accents, to which Constentin replies, just to satisfy my curiosity?
Other than that, we could all post with special characters, and all
reply to everybodies posts, but that way lies madness.
