But is it certain that it's the same city? An English-language online Bible I
found (http://unbound.biola.edu) writes 'Calah' in the first place,
and 'Halah' in the second.
The ordering in
2 Kings 17:6
In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried
Israel away into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the
river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
seems to suggest that this Halah is west of the Habor (Habour, Khabur), which
doesn't fit Calah.
("Habor, on the river of Gozan" should be "on the Habor, the river of Gozan"
according to this site;
http://www.ccel.org/s/schaff/encyc/encyc05/htm/v.i.ii.htm , which makes
noticeably more sense.)
