Re: CHAT: Nimrud

Ob-conculture:

In my own personal mythology/religion, Nimrod is either an evil Techian
(elf, djinni, extraterrestrial, whatever) or a human under the influence of
one or more (i.e. demon-possessed). He may in fact be the king of the evil
Techians, who we know as Lucifer and Satan, in humanoid form. The language
of Babel before the confusion was Tech or something like it.

Nimrod wanted to take over the human race (or at least humanity situated
around Mesopotamia) and assimilate it, so God in an act of mercy made
everybody speak other languages (the offspring of Nostratic) while leaving
the Techians alone with their langauge. This led to nationalism,
individualism, and cultural competition, a necessary compromise to keep
mankind free.

Also, in my work in progress, the Flood and Babel were local events, not
global. The Flood happened in the Black Sea region; Babel affected the
Fertile Crescent and outlying areas (Egypt, northern and eastern Africa,
Arabia, southern Europe, the Caucasus, central Asia, India - in other words,
the "Nostratosphere").

Nimrod, who is immortal* if really a Techian, makes a comeback in the
not-so-distant future as the whole world is overrun by war, poverty, disease
and tyranny, to establish a satanic "new world order" where humans become
the eternal slaves of the Techians. They already cursed and mutated humans,
making them Ogres, to be used as their blindly obedient grunt troops. They
also put conspiracies into action, using their elite human agents, with the
purpose of leading (human) nations into a global apocalyptic war. Nimrod or
Satan rebelled against God for creating the Adamians (that's us), but the
"good" Techians rebelled against their devil-king (at the cost of their
immortality) by exposing the plot to a few humans, particularly those
belonging to a secret society devoted to knowledge of the Techians, their
society, their language, and their agenda.

*Immortal: Techians do not die by normal physical decay, but can be killed
by violence or disease, their souls "sent" to the "spirit world" or "spirit
plane". The benevolent Techians were punished with mortality, but still live
for hundreds of years, occasionally over a thousand.

Thus endeth my random banter; now back to conlanging.
