As an artlanger, I'm not especially concerned about this. If any person
in the real world in real time wanted to learn my lang, they'd have to
accept its Douglas overlay to the same extent that someone learning
French would have to accept the overlay of French custom, psychology
etc.
One would hope, however, that the designers of/debators on an IAL would
be especially sensitive to these concerns you've mentioned (though
that's a minefield I care not to tap-dance through [sorry, *throo*]).
