Some dialects of Catalan do this as well (notably on the Balearics, and
I think algherese too) and even have a contrast:
la mort: Death
sa mort: the death (of which we were speaking)
Brithenig uniquely (AFAIK) derives its 3sg *pronouns* ys/sa from "ipse":
the articles ill/lla (pl. llo) are from "ille" as usual.
