Ooooh, that would be loverly, but... From everything I've heard about LaTex
(on this list some years back, Christophe Grandsire was an enthusiant) it
sounds too complex and too quirky-- not a trick this old dog needs to try to
learn at this point. (And, isn't it expensive?) Also, this project is a
one-time affair, so I fear the effort wouldn't be warranted.

Yes, I think that's part of the problem. But it's the only decent font I
have that includes the IPA chars. I need (actually only 1-- the symbol for
voiced h (U+0266). Everything else I need (schwa, Greek letters,
vowel-breve, grave/acute etc.) is available in most other fonts. Jamie
Norrish (of IPA Zounds) mentioned using a fixed width font-- I see Courier
New has U+011F (g-breve) which could stand in for 0266, as well as what
appear to be composible large brackets; possibly I could use that just for
the rules... Must experiment more) And if I needed the occasional real IPA
char., I could paste it in from some other font...(Ultimately the paper will
be turned into a .pdf for posting to the website--the main reason also I'm
writing it in OOWriter.)
Exactly...but given my reservations about LaTex, hmmm...
But thanks for the info, and for prodding my little grey cells. :-))
