In your neck of the woods, possibly. Here, most people'd identify "the New World" as the Americas, and know that Europe is included in "the Old World", but not what else. Some claim that "the Old World" is only Europe.

Certainly doesn't _sound_ as one! But I'm not having any megalomanic dreams of changing geographic terminology. The question was rather intended to probe whether you thought it could be a good name in a more perfect world. Thou evidently dost not. (That said, someone must've coined Eurasia, and it probably sounded weird at first, too.)
