What stories have influenced your conlanging?

For me, /Story of Your Life/ by Ted Chiang
<http://heptapod.org/storylife.html>. The language it describes,
Heptapod B, is almost exactly what I'd like to make: a non-linear 2d
writing system. (It doesn't mention certain other features I'd want
present, but gets the fundamental idea right.)
Although I read it *after* I had the idea originally, it gave me a
much clearer grasp on it, and inspired me to try to continue.
