Why? it's a nice sounds combination though... Well, de gustibus...
As for why the auxiliary for interrogation and negation is used to mark
conditional sentences in Chasmäöcho is easy to explain. In fact, conditional
sentences are to be analysed this way:
if..., ... becomes: ...? Then...
The condition itself is expressed as a question, while the "answer" to this
condition is marked as a subordinate clause :) . I find quite a nice way to
express conditions, at least quite original.
