PDF woes

I'm pretty sure the problem is that Acrobat Reader (at least version 4) cannot handle Type3 fonts in an intelligent way. I have not checked out version 5, because, as you so eloquently point out, the open source stuff is superior. In any case, a little bit of googling turned up this page (http://www.isds.duke.edu/~sto/pdf.html) which details steps on how to avoid ugly PDF; note, I am currently stuck in NT4, which prevents me from verifying the steps. This page (http://www.aeroconf.org/cgi-bin/autharea/latex.htm) seems to confirm it. Hopefully this will create beautiful PDFs for you. :) Let me know if it works. :Peter
