Okay.  I hesitated to repost it, because it had been posted to Langdev,
which is a private list; and a posting to a private list has something
of the character of a private (person-to-person) message, which is usually
considered unethical to repost to a public list.

I thought, however, that the value of its content outweighed this consideration.
