It can also mean simply "with", as in Genesis 5:22 |vayelekh Hhanokh et
ha-Eloqim|, "Hhanokh walked *with* God"... this is, i assume, the reason
that from |?eT| we get both the declined prepositions |itt-| "with" and
|ot-| "(direct object)".
