Of (later Sir) Clement Atlee: "An empty cab drove up [to the House of
Commons] and he got out." Not sure when he said it, but his dislike of Mr
Atlee (Labour) was long-standing. The fact that, after guiding England
through WW II and Saving Western Civilization, WSC had to hand over the
PM-ship to Atlee in 1945 probably had little to do with it.
