Maltese...
boy - tifel
girl - tifla
father - missier
mother - omm
children - tfal
give birth - wiled (actually this is a gender neutral word, to be/-come
the parent of s.o.)
Maltese does also have weld/ulieda child/-ren, but I haven't ever come
across the singular form except in a dictionary, and the plural form is
also very rare compared to tfal. There isn't a natural way to refer to a
single child in a gender-neutral way in Maltese.
And yes, all these Maltese words above have a direct relationship to an
Arabic root.

go out and smell each other.
