It was on accident, too. I'd made the word for "to sing/chant" be _kastí_. Later, I discovered some assimilatory processes, among them [stS] -> [SS], which turned it to _kassí_. Another interesting co-incidence, again by accident, is láu, to eat, and ua-náu, (piece of) fruit. They're often thought to be related, but again, are not, láu < ráhu, náu < náqo. One which actually might be connected is pitaní (settlement) and pisaní (Family House), derived from tëné and sëné. Perhaps in pre-CK, some archaic prefix existed, say **ë-, which when added to tëné created *ëtëné -> *ëtné -> *ësné -> *sné -> sëné. All but the first change is reasonable in the development of Proto-Kassi-Plia to Common Kassí, it's possible that it was an exceptional change, or that it occured in another dialect and was borrowed into the dialect that gave rise to CK.
