Internet Relay Chat, a vintage technology (i.e., pre-WWW).
It's what Yahoo! Chat, AIM and all the rest is trying to be, except it
is a pure text format and uses special clients --- and the chatrooms
are called channels.
ObConlang: Are there any conlang-related channels around that are
active? Maybe Conlang Day would be a good time to set up an IRC
rendezvous...
