In the U.S. on PBS last fall there was a program based on the book by Brian Greene called 'The Elegant Universe.' This is an introduction to string theory, with some other views and theories. The book and DVDs are available on PBS's website: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/ As someone with an interest in theoretical physics & astronomy, I found this program really thought-provoking, and I intend to buy it (some day).
