(Henrik Theiling wrote about Da Mätz se Basa, a language that unites
articles with pronouns in a similar manner to my own conlang,
Gzarondaa-rin Pregehs.)
It's a nice idea for a language. But the documentation is a problem
for English speakers like me in that it assumes a lot of prior
knowledge about German and similar languages. Without that knowledge,
the description of Da Matz is very difficult to follow.
The main problem with the documentation is that if you read it from
start to finish, there are lots of references to aspects of the
grammar or vocabulary that are not actually described until later.
Another quibble with the documentation is that in the articles/pronouns
table, the 3rd person forms are listed in the order:
ne na ni mi
de da di de
which is logical enough, but the spatial prepositions table lists them
in the order:
de di da ne ni na mi
which makes it unnecessarily troublesome to cross-reference, because
it's like counting "1, 3, 2, 4, 6, 5, 7".
Adrian.
