Well, they spoke Standard Galactic with just a few dialectal variations,
like those pronouns, or, at least, they knew it. Pelorat and Golan had
no problem speaking with any Gaian, and yet, when the Gaians spoke
Standard Galactic, they needed to create special pronouns. If Standard
Galactic had no singular/plural distinction, they could simply use first
person pronouns. How the Gaians spoke to each other wasn't really
adressed. Perhaps they used a completely different language, one in
which those cumbersome pronouns like I/we/Gaia were far simpler, perhaps
monosyllabic.
