No. Linguists do not make value judgements. Linguists "just" learn learn
learn.
Only crazy auxlangers imagine one language is "better" and another
language "worse."
As for Mandarin, I very much like it, and although the writing system is a
migraine on paper, I'd hate to see a single jot of it changed (changed
further, perhaps I ought to say, since several jots *have* been changed
since the so-called "cultural revolution.")
