Delurking for a while. As a native speaker of Russian and a linguist, I do agree that Russian palatalized /t;/ and /d;/ tend to be pronounced as [ts);] and [dz);] in most regions, whatever the standard (prescriptivist) grammar may say... -- Yitzik
