Indeed, I remember reading somewhere that
Pennsylvania was settled by large numbers of
German immigrants. Today they are referred to as
the "Pennsylvania Dutch." But souvenir shops in
Pennsylvania today sell items with pictures of
wooden shoes and windmills on them because in
Modern English, "Dutch" refers to the Netherlands.
