I'd say that I can understand the objection all too well. Of course,
conlanging does nothing to prevent the death of natlangs; and while
the slogan surely never was meant to belittle the problem of massive
language extinction in the real world, it may well be considered
offensive by people professionally concerned with preserving as much
of the real world's linguistic diversity as they can, and I'd say it is
indeed badly chosen. I never was much of a fan of this slogan anyway
because it makes fun of a very serious matter.
I really like Larry's suggestion "Create a language - create a world!".
