I agree that translations are one of the most valuable contributions of this list. I wish I had more time to participate in them. I really ought to get back to conculture-based languages: I think it's easier and more fun to put a language together if I have a population of speakers in mind, even if they're fictional little furry people with big eyes or other nonexistent sorts of beings. And Tirelat's undergoing yet another big revision of phonology and romanization. After so many, I wonder if it'll ever really settle down into a form I can start using. Unfortunately, my conlanging ideals have changed to such an extent from this list and other linguistics-related reading that I'm reluctant to continue developing any of the old fictional languages without major revisions. But I really liked some of the old languages, and I'd like to revive them. I wonder how much effort it would take to redesign them. With so many concultures, at least one of them is likely to be appropriate for almost any translation. -- languages of Azir------> ---<http://www.io.com/~hmiller/lang/index.html>--- hmiller (Herman Miller) "If all Printers were determin'd not to print any @io.com email password: thing till they were sure it would offend no body, \ "Subject: teamouse" / there would be very little printed." -Ben Franklin
