Wow, thank you everyone for all the input! Such a complicated subject!
Well, I doubt that I'd ever try to protect any language that I might
create in such a way, but it's interesting to understand the issues.
And, honestly, I can understand why someone would want to protect their
hard work, but, to me, it's like trying to leash an idea. Just when I
think I've got a fresh one collared, I see that there have been
generations of people who already domesticated it!
But, I'll pass along the concepts that you've laid out, if I can codify
and summarize them well enough, with the suggestion that the questioner
join the list and read the archive for himself, of course.
