I found on the Web the information that "tanne" (e
acute in French) was a specific color belonging to
English heraldic. I neve heard that name for French
heraldic. It seems it was a "dark orange" (orange
fonce')
By the same occasion, I learned then French heraldic
color "sinople" (green) originally meant "red" ! And
that "sable" (black) comes from Slavic "sobol" (a fur,
called "zibeline" in French). Well, in fact I learned
plenty of things by asking Google about "heraldique",
"couleurs" and "noms".
