Or even spare the burden animals in thew New World. But there's another
advantage that the Old World had over the New World - it's more
horizontal, so to speak. The Americas, especially Mesoamerica, are
north-south oriented, so that the spread of crops was impeded, since it
takes longer for crops to be adapted to colder/warmer environments.
