I quite agree, to the extent that I am even sufficiently informed to
have an opinion (although it would appear to me that any complete
history of either Russia or Ukraine can hardly fail to begin with the
Rus).

Incidentally, is it known how V. would have pronounced his own name, in
10th century Kievan East-Slavonic?
