Thank you for your fascinating reply. I found it very
interesting. I suppose the most I can say in my
defense is that while I'm sure that proctology is an
interesting study, I personally am not interested in
studying proctology. Likewise, I find the occasional
article on phonology interesting but it's not
something I would want to study in any depth. I'm
glad _somebody_ is interested in it, becuase I have to
grant that it is an important branch of liguistics.
(I'm also glad _somebody_ is interested in
proctology.)
On the other hand, my own particular unhealthy
obsession with the graphical form of written signs,
glyphs, alphabets, pictograms, runes, etc., ... Well,
I just think my obsession is cooler than your
obssession, So there. ;-)
