The point of the notation is that it defines its own features, with the
"category" lines at the top, and the "root category" being literally the
root of the tree from which all other categories are defined: every symbol
in the language is a member of exactly one of the root categories.
Re-reading it, though, it seems I have used a few categories without
defining them. I shall attempt to rectify that bit of poor editing.
