Incidentally, I don't know how true this is, but I've read that some
of the tendency to overdo the blue rinse comes from changing visual
perception. Blue is already the weakest color in the spectrum for
human eyes, and as we age our ability to see it decreases. So those
with white hair are prone to see it as yellower than it really is, and
overcompensate, and then often can't even tell that they've overdone
the blue.
