I've heard "ginger" used as a color of cats, never of people. I have a sneaky feeling it might be a Britishism (pejorative?) for "Irish", but could be wrong. "Copper top" must be recent, and based on Duracell ads, no? I actually haven't heard "carrot top" in years; seems to me it is/was used maiinly of children, but then, I don't get around much anymore.......
