I should clarify that it wouldn't be unacceptable in the sense of not understanding it, but I'm pretty sure that if I heard someone use that I'd probably take notice of it. But, I'd say "The horse that/which was ridden past the barn fell down". -- "Their bodies did not age, but they became afeared of everything and anything.
