Each knows a part of God's mind, though, so one
or another of them máy know.
Even so, when Gandalf and his companions came
into Middle Earth, they came in the form of
creatures of Earth - old Men - not as Maiar
spirits in their full glory and power. They are
subject to earthly limitations - so Gandalf may
well "know", but can't remember. In any event,
he's pretty good at not spilling everything he
knows: why dash the beliefs of an old Man
needlessly when there would be no particular use
in doing so?
