You're fortunate. I haven't run afoul of this (I keep to standard?
American spelling anytime I have to turn something in for a grade) but I
remember some teacher at first marking off an Australian classmate for
her spelling and punctuation, then being informed that not everyone comes
from the U.S. and knows what Americans have done to the Queen's English
=^) and relented.
